In the beginning

Steve started teaching people how to use computers in 1994. He visited students in their home or office, clearly defined their objective and assessed their current skill level, created a list of goals to be acheived and then taught them methodically how to use the software to achieve their outcomes.

The new age - Web 1.0

In 1999, in conjunction with Tim Cooper, Steve created an internet classifieds website through a joint venture company called The Mall Pty Ltd. This involved outlining clear website objectives and project managing the building and testing of the website. At this stage the Internet was in it's infancy and most people asked, "What is the Internet" so Steve left the venture and started his first training centre in Dee Why to cater for groups of people who wanted to learn.

The first training centre

With the opening of his first centre, Steve realised the importance of keeping the training experience consistent, even with 5 different trainers. He also realised the importance of having a centralised database to keep track of clients, students, trainers and training centre. As a result Steve created most of the software and systems required to operate a training centre, including a relational bookings database using FileMaker Pro, website to show courses and even take bookings and payments, and training workbooks with step by step instructions on how to perform certain tasks using the software.

More training centres

With the help of Barbara Smith, Maria Landrelli and later Marie Diblasio and Sally Kling, Steve's business successfully trained thousands of students at the Dee Why and Gordon computer training centres. He expanded to Parramatta in partnership with T3 Ventures, who were specialist Quicken and Quickbooks trainers.

The whole process was managed via a central 1300 number and the custom built bookings database. This database was able to keep track of clients, employee

Training videos

The importance of consistant training content and delivery made Steve aware of the need to create his own videos. With the help of Adrian Murray, Steve designed a flashy video management system to put his training videos onto CD and run them from a server at each training centre.

As a result of this innovation, Steve's centres were able to offer "When you need it" training. Students could purchase computer access time at his centres and learn a number of different software programs at their own pace with the aid of a trainer who was present to answer any questions if required.

It was the start of a systematic change of strategy for the company from a training centre operator to a publisher and licensor of multimedia training material and systems.

Online E-learning (EzyLearn)

With the rapid uptake of the internet, Steve placed his training videos, workbooks and exercise files into online Learning Management Systems (LMS's) so that they could be delivered via the Internet. Students could now have access to this training material from the comfort of their own home/office. They could also repeat the videos as often as they wanted within the time frame of the course.

It was the start of the online learning model and Steve had done all the work to partipate in this innovative market.

Our own website system

In 2006 Steve's company, EzyLearn Pty Ltd developed and started to roll out the 123ezy website system based around Linux hosting and bundles many software programs that are much cheaper to license or even free.
EzyLearn was now in a position to help companies learn how to use Microsoft Office software programs, create their own websites and learn how to use MYOB accounting software. EzyLearn was evolving into a business to help small businesses grow.

The digital office

The internet now allows small businesses to operate their own PABX without having to spend thousands of dollars upfront. All call routing can now be handled virtual with a hosted server, AND, the new features available are astounding and flexible.

Finance

Steve has completed a Diploma in Financial Services and Financial markets and has the qualifications for ASIC RG146 to provide financial advice. At the time of writing Steve is halfway through tertiary education to achieve his Masters of Applied Finance and now consults to companies in various roles in this field.
